BSTDB extended a 3-year dual currency loan of USD 5 million and EUR 5 million to its partner bank Basisbank, to fuel the support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Georgia. Basisbank will channel the funds to domestic SMEs, to finance their investments, working capital needs and enhance their trade activity.
BSTDB’s partnership with Basisbank began in 2012 with a revolving trade finance credit line that allowed Basisbank to provide over the years a total of USD 113 million to Georgian exporters and importers. Besides this trade finance facility, in 2016 BSTDB provided the first SME credit line to Basisbank, amounting to USD 5 million, which was followed by a dual currency USD 10 million/EUR 5 million SME facility in 2019. This is the third SME facility to a trusted longstanding partner bank of BSTDB, demonstrating the strong cooperation between the two institutions and the joint commitment to facilitate the development of SME businesses in the country by expanding their availability of financial support.
