- Description and Purpose of the Operation:
- Provision of a one-year, revolving debt facility to the trading company of the Metinvest Group, Ukraine. Metinvest is a vertically integrated group of steel and mining companies that manages every link of the value chain, from mining and processing iron ore and coal to making and selling semi-finished and finished steel products. By financing of export shipments of Iron Ore products the Operation will support the export capabilities of the Group by helping its mining companies to sell their products outside Ukraine.

- Developmental and Regional Cooperation Impact:
- The BSTDB loan aims to enhance the export of iron ore products of the Group by facilitating committed working capital financing. It will bolster Metinvest’s export capabilities and support its production continuity in Ukraine. Enabling the company to export, will help the company to preserve its production, thereby its employment, contribute positively to country exports, and will have a certain positive impact on the logistical sector, given that railway routes will be used to deliver products to ports, among others, in Romania and Bulgaria for further exports.
- Environmental Classification and Impact:
- Category B. The environmental and social (E&S) risks and impacts associated with transportation by rail and temporary storage of iron ore pellets are low. Any existing issues such as emissions (dust) during transportation and handling, and any health and safety issues can be efficiently prevented and mitigated by applying existing good and best practices in handling mineral cargos in bulk.
