- Developmental and Regional Cooperation Impact:
- The operation involves a Green and Gender Equality Credit Line to Express Leasing in Moldova for financing MSME and Green and Gender Sub-loans. This operation not only aligns with the official strategies of the Bank but also fulfills BSTDB’s commitment to supporting its members in greatest need. In general, credit lines for MSMEs have a much stronger development and cooperation impact in relatively smaller countries like Moldova. While the end recipient firms of the Bank’s financing under this facility are not known in advance, it is reasonable to expect that the facility will have a modest but positive impact on regional cooperation.
- Environmental Classification and Impact:
- Express Leasing is an existing Borrower of the Bank which is active in the Moldovan non-banking microfinance sector offering micro-loans and financial leasing to individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, and MSMEs. The portfolio analysis of Express Leasing & Microcredit suggests that its portfolio is associated with limited to low E&S risks and impacts. The operation will contribute to meeting the climate strategic objectives of the Bank and the UN SDG 5 – aiming at gender equality, and SDG 8 aiming at achieving full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men.
